Melbourne,
After our two wonderful days at the tennis we had one day left to see the city. We loved it here in Melbourne, from the old blended with the new to the free bus and tram shuttles for tourists to see the sights. Everyone was so friendly and the restaurants were great. This is a truly wonderful city to visit.
The first two photos were taken from our balcony then the rest are from our walking tour. Melbourne Street Station is a wonderful piece of architecture and I cannot imagine how many passengers travel through there each day.
The arts centre and Fed Square are just a hive of activity and in total contrast architecturally to the station but somehow it all works, the old and the new.
The Cathedral is beautiful and The War Memorial is quite indescribable. From here we strolled through the wonderful Botanical Gardens with enormous trees, birds whose songs were like bells chiming and peaceful lakes.
The Yarra River is magnificent and a sight to behold.
It was a very hot day and after walking back to our hotel for the last time, a dip in the pool was very welcoming.
We had a final dinner at Il Duca and prepared for our farewells the next morning………………..
